17th-century church
The Church of Santa Croce was founded by the confraternity "Compagnia dei Disciplinati di Santa Croce", the same which initiated the first hospital assistance in Rivoli by means of the Institution of the Santa Croce Hospital. Originally, it was just a chapel, which was erected and consecrated on April 25th, 1521. Later, thanks to the bequests of a family living in Rivoli, the chapel underwent a first extension Nevertheless, only in 1630 following the big pestilence the church was definitively enlarged and included a section for the assistance, to the needy. The project was assigned to the architects Bernardino and Giulio Quadri, father and son, from Lugano. Later, between 1742/1760, the architects Garove and Antonio Casella are known to have worked for the confraternity. Between 1775/1776 the modernisation works of the church are started up and assigned to Carlo Giuseppe Perratone.
